First Book and beloved children’s author & illustrator, Mo Willems, celebrated Friendiversary at Peck Full Service Community School in Holyoke, MA, yesterday. Mo read to second grade students and each second grader recevied their very own Friendiversary book to take home. http://blog.firstbook.org/2013/02/27/happy-friendiversary-3/

Thanks to all the hard-working volunteers who came out today for the National Day of Service today on the National Mall in downtown DC. Working together, we provided 15,000 brand-new books to DC-area kids in need! And, of course, had tons of fun.

If you live near DC, or will be in town for the presidential inauguration, come on down to the National Mall on Saturday where we’ll be one of seven featured nonprofits. Say hello and help us put 15,000 brand-new books into bags for kids in need! http://www.2013pic.org/service/dc

Thank you!!
There’s still time to get more books in the hands of kids in 2012. Every $2.50 donated to First Book provides one brand-new, high-quality book for a child from a low-income family. Disney has agreed to match every one of those books with two additional books, from now through the end of the year. CLICK HERE DONATE
